A seasoned lawyer (UK qualified) with a proven knack for effectively dousing highly sensitive, volatile situations. Mr David is a solicitor of Supreme Court, England and Wales with current practicing certificate (14 years call). He is a well accomplished academia; he had his first degree in Bachelor of Science (Sociology) (Calabar, Nigeria) followed by a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Wales, UK), Master of Laws (LLM) in Commercial Law (Wales, UK), Post Graduate Diploma in Housing Management (Wales, UK), Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Wales, UK). Has thorough practical knowledge of Corporate Governance, public administration, commercial law, public law and administration, employment and discrimination law gained from over 14 years advising high level Boards in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Prof. Peter Nyong Umoh
Peter Nyong Umoh is Professor of Finance and currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the coordinator of Postgraduate Studies at Baze University in Abuja, Nigeria.
He served on the Board of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC); a bank supervisory and deposit insurance institution, for ten (10) years. As the Executive Director in charge off operations, Professor Umoh supervised off-site surveillance and onsite examination of banks, amongst other operational functions of the Cooperation.
Prior to the NDIC assignment, he was professor of Finance and Head of the Department of Finance, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Pfof. Umoh has benefitted from extensive executive education at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Michigan, IMD and London Business Schools. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB).
Mr. Umar Dalhatu
Umar Dalhatu joined Baze University after 26 years of successful Banking career; as an accomplished Banker. Umar rose through the rank from Trainee Officer and retired as Deputy General Manager from Unity Bank Plc. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria with Bachelor of Degree (BSc.) Economics in 1987 and had masters in Banking and Finance from Bayero University (BUK) Kano. Umar attended various management and finance courses both in Nigeria and abroad.
Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad
Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, PhD (Registrar). An accomplished University Administrator and an Academic Specializing in Environmental Studies. Educated at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Federal University of Technology Minna, and Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. He worked with the Niger State Government for a decade before retiring. He then joined the Nigerian Turkish Nile University from 2008 to 2011 after which he voluntarily left to join Baze University Abuja as a foundation Staff.
Dr. Rislan Abdulazeez Kanya
Director of Information Technology Services
Dr. Rislan is responsible for the University's Information Technology Services. He has over a decade experience in the field of Computing, Information Systems, Strategy, Innovation and Business Process Re-engineering. A resourceful and a focused ICT specialist, with considerable exposure in Programme Management, ICT sectoral Applications (eGovernment, eLearning, and eBusiness) Implementation and Strategy. Rislan educated at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, Nigeria, Informatics Institute Singapore, Ctech Academy, New Jersey, USA, University of Portsmouth, and University of Wales all in the UK. Rislan attended many training locally and abroad among them are Information and Communications Technology Strategy, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Enterprise Architecture, Business Analyst, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), GSM Technologies (BTS, BSS and PDH), RF Planning with EDX Signal Pro Modelling Tools, among others
Dr. Rislan has practical experience with Big Data Analytics, Network and System Integration, Enterprise Resources Planner (ERP), among others. He had earlier worked as an instructor for CTech Incorporation, USA certification programs at Informatics Institute, Suletankarkar Computer Training Centre as Centre Manager, Bayero University Kano and Jigawa Savings and Loans Ltd as Information Systems Officer and Later Head of Account/Operations for some years before joining Baze University Abuja as pioneer Head of IT Services Department and later promoted to Director IT Services. Rislan has much interest on how ICT can be used in the area of sustainable development (ICT4D), human capability enhancement (Economic empowerment/poverty reduction), Big data analytics in disruptive innovation. Dr. Rislan has coached and mentored more than 2000 young and vulnerable youth on how the can use the power of the computer, the Internet, and the social media to improve their capabilities, choices, and functionings. Rislan major research interest is on how to use a hybrid framework he developed on how to reduce ICT4D project failure and improve ICT4D project champion. He is a British Computer Society Chartered IT Professional (MBCS/CITP), Member, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), Member, Computer Professional Registration Council (MCPN), Member, Nigeria Computer Society (MNCS), Member, Nigerian Institute of Managers (MNIM), Association of Information Systems (AIS), among others.
Mr. Aghedo Oshioreamhe
Dean of Student Affairs
An astute and energetic Administrator with a solid history of achievements in management of men and materials, motivated. Mr Aghedo Oshioreamhe joined Baze University in May 2011.
He is well versed in Economics, Administration, Education and Youth training, Monitoring and Coordination of Youth Programmes, Marketing, Sustainable Development, Public Relations, among others.
Educated at the University of Abuja, Mr. Aghedo is privileged to have served in various capacities over the years with different organizations including Lead British International School, and Cherryfield College.
Ahmad Mahmoud Lawal
Head of Human Resourses
Mr. Mahmoud holds a diploma in accounting and finance and a master's degree in Treasury Management.
Mr. Mahmoud is an articulate, enthusiastic, highly motivated and detail oriented person with a long history of over 35 years service with the Kano state Government and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. He maintains a good and positive attitude to work and whilst working with others. He understands the importance of hard work that goes into instilling good work ethics.
Mr. Mahmoud joined Baze University in March 2014.
Mr. Nasir Baba-Ahmed
Manager IT Infrastructure Services/Network Security Officer
Mr Nasir Baba-Ahmad has reasonable combination Management functionalities with a diversified experience in the field of Computing Information Systems. Nasir Graduated from the University of Coventry, U.K. with Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computing Science and I.T, with an Upper Second Class (2-1), as well as a Masters Degree in Digital Forensics and Cyber security, with a Distinction. A resourceful and focused Information and communications specialist with considerable exposure in Project Management, Nasir had earlier worked as Deputy I.T Director at Baze University Abuja, Nigeria.Mr Nasir has bags host of IT Certificates which includes: EC-Council Certified Ethical hacker, Java Certified Programmer (Java TM Malaysia) Subang Jaya, Malaysia and Certified Ethical Hacking, from the University of Technology Mara, Malaysia. He is also an AccessData Certified Forensic Investigator (A.C.E), a Network & Cybersecurity Expert, a MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA), a Certified Nigerian Digital Forensics Expert and a fellow member of the Computer Forensics Institute Nigeria (CFIN), and a very active member of the Cybersecurity Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN).Nasir is also an expert in Network / System Administration, Data Warehousing and Mining, Biometrics, and Identification, Network and Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics and Network Forensics, Ethical hacking etc., locally and abroad, with Post Graduate Research, carried out on readiness and securing critical national infrastructure and industrial control systems in the oil and gas sector.
Mallam Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina
Chief Security Officer
Malam Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina is the Chief Security Officer of Baze University. He was a career security and intelligence officer, who retired from the services of the DSS as a director Internal Security (DIS). He is an experienced officer in managing national security challenges and holds a Master Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy in various capacities as the Head of Anti-Terrorism Department, Intelligence Research and Estimates as well as State Director of Security. He served as Private Security Consultant on policy, strategy and analysis as the MD/CEO of Peace Builders Security Concepts Nigeria Ltd before joining the services Baze University in December 2017. He is happily married, with a blessed family.
Khalifa U. Mohammed
Director, Central Services and SSA to Pro-Chancellor
Khalifa is a multi-talented, meticulous and hard-working individual with over 15 years professional experience in a number of sectors, namely Telecoms, Financial Services, Power and Education. He has gained the necessary management and leadership work experience in various capacities with a proven record of accomplishment and excellent working knowledge as a Project Manager and an IT Consultant. He possesses an in-depth knowledge of successfully managing projects from inception to completion. Highly reliable, with an ability to adapt and prioritize effectively to meet ever-changing deadlines. His current role has certainly exposed him to the challenges and opportunities of a multi-faceted environment; as Director, Central Services for Baze University, Khalifa is responsible for a multidisciplinary role involving procurement, logistics and estates. As SSA to Pro-Chancellor, this role involves managing the Pro-Chancellors office, as well as handling the affairs of the Pro-Chancellor, be it within and outside the University. Khalifa has established a strong academic foundation necessary for success, excelling in MSc International Management and BSc Information Technology both from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. After completing his Masters Degree, he felt the need for academic progression, which led to the pursuit of a Doctorate Degree in International Studies. He has successfully undertaken and achieved a number of Leadership and Management courses over the years with the view of furthering his leadership capacity. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Risk Management (IRM), UK; as well as a graduate member of the Leadership and Management Academy (LMA), UK. He is an astute facilitator, recognized for his dedication, reliability and resourcefulness. His strong passion to professionally develop himself enabled him to also engage and develop others along the way. He firmly believes that everyone must start somewhere, but with some level of determination, considerable commitment and strong belief, the sky is really just the beginning.
Prof. Osita Agbu
Dean of Management and Social Sciences
Osita Agbu is Professor of International Relations and Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at Baze University, Abuja. He was formerly, Head, Division of International Politics at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos, where he worked for several years. He held both academic and administrative positions, serving as the editor of the Nigerian Journal of International Affairs (NJIA) for many years. He earned his doctorate degree in Political Science, with specialization in International Relations from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1993. Professor Agbu has to his credit several publications that include thirteen single-authored, edited and co-edited books; chapter contributions and Journal articles in various areas of Political Science and International Relations. He was editor, Elections and Governance in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic (CODESRIA, 2016), Co-editor, Nigeria in the Global Arena (2011), Ethnic Militias and the Threat to Democracy in Post-Transition Nigeria (Nordic Africa Institute, 2004) and West Africa’s Trouble Spots and the Imperative for Peace-Building (CODESRIA, 2006) among many other publications. He had previously lectured at The University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Caleb University, Lagos; and the University of Lagos. He has also consulted for several organizations including the UNDP Nigeria, NEPAD Secretariat South Africa, Transparency International, Kenya; and OXFAM UK. He has been a laureate of the Governance Institute of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Senegal; Visiting Research Fellow at the Nordic Africa Institute, Uppsala, Sweden; Institute for Global Dialogue, Johannesburg, South Africa; and Institute for Developing Economies, Chiba, Japan.
Dr. Nuradeen Tanko
Dean of Engineering
Nuradeen Tanko is a Senior Lecturer of Petroleum and Gas Engineering and Ag. Dean of Faculty of Engineering. He is responsible for the teaching, research and strategic planning of the Faculty. He teaches Petroleum and Gas Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas ranging from Fluid Mechanics to Petroleum Geology.
Tanko’s research expertise is in novel multi-technique approaches to understand the transport relationships in oil reservoir rocks with focus on improved oil recovery. Nuradeen Tanko holds a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from University of Swansea (UK), M.Sc in Advanced Chemical Engineering from University of Leeds (UK), and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from University of Bath (UK). In addition, Tanko has attended several professional courses, seminars, workshops, local & International conferences, and is a member of several professional bodies in Nigeria and EU.
Prof. Ferdinand Akpokpobe Ekpo Om'INIABOHS
Dean of Basic Medical Sciences
Professor Om'INIABOHS graduated from the University of Ibadan with a BSc. (Hons.) degree in Anatomy, in 1971. He proceeded immediately to the University of Sheffield in 1972. There he enrolled, as was mandatory, for Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Sheffield, Western Bank, Sheffield, England. Before the end of one year, in 1973, and because of new findings from his research work on " The Effects of Lipidemia on the Epithelial Organs in Cystic Fibrosis", his research work was upgraded to a Ph.D degree. In April 1978, Professor Om'INIABOHS was awarded a Ph.D degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology, in the Faculty of Medicine. In 1988, after a post Doctoral training in the University of Oxford, he was admitted into the Fellowship of The Royal Microscopic Society (FRMS) of Great Britain. He was permitted to use the acronym FRMS after his name.Professor Om'INIABOHS started his academic career when he was appointee a Research Assistant in 1976-77 by the University of Sheffield in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. During this period he demonstrated Gross Anatomy and Microscopy Practicals to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He was also a member of the Departmental Board of Studies. But his main assignment was research.His academic career spans a period of more than three decades in Nigerian Universities which included: the University of Nigeria, Nnsuka, Enugu Campus; University of Calabar, Calabar; University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt; Igbinedion University, Okada and University of Benin, Bening City. Currently, he is the founding Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, BAZE University, Abuja.Professor Om'INIABOHS has been listed in the Data base of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) since 2010. He has assisted the NUC in Resource Verification of structures for a new department of Anatomy in universities applying to NUC to establish new medical schools. He has also been called upon to assist the NUC in accrediting Anatomy courses in established medical schools.Professor Om'INIABOHS has been invited by various Nigerian universities while in permanent lectureship to examine and moderate examinations for BSc undergraduate examinations and project Defence in Anatomy and Histopathology as well as MBBS. He has also been involved in MSc and PhD Project Defence examinations.His research activities started with his new findings which culminated in his award of Ph.D. Certificate by the Senate of The University of Sheffield, England based on his Thesis on "The Effects Lipidemia on Epithelial Organs". Most of Professor Om'INIABOHS' research works are centred on investigations on ameliorating the effects of diabetes using locally available herbs on streptozotocin induced diabetic animal models; he also works on ameliorating effects on diseases affecting the kidney and liver. Professor Om'INIABOHS conducted research on the comparative studies on the tissues and organs of the amphibian ( toad ), the reptile ( agama lizard) and the mammal ( rat ). This aspect of comparative studies is lacking in scientific literatures.He is an academic and an administrator committed to lecturing, teaching, training and positively molding and impacting on the lives of young adults put in his charge. His legacy is to positively impact on the lives of persons in his charge or in contact with him for the better. He is committed to teaching Anatomy, the study and function of the human body and brain to nurses, doctors and other allied fields in the medical sciences and this spans a period of more than three decades.His expertise in the field of human Anatomy has placed him in positions as Head of Department of Anatomy, Assistant Dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences and Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences as well as membership of university policy making body- The Senate - of universities.Professor Om'INIABOHS ( Dr. Ohms -OMS as he is fondly addressed by his colleagues and students) possesses a natural disposition to critically examine and analyse the status quo in the light of new knowledge. He is quiet, perseverant and intellectually honest. He therefore, possesses an unwavering determination for excellence in his endeavours. He is quite resourceful and self motivated. However, in spite of his stance, he is full of respect for his colleagues and students. Professor Om'INIABOHS is truly a man who commands respect!
Dr. Bala Muhammad
Dean of Environmental Sciences
Bala Muhammad obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) in Building in 1990 at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Civil Engineering (Structures) in 1999 at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Civil Engineering (Materials and Structures) in 2009 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He received several academic awards from local and international institutions. He has been working as a lecturer and researcher at local and international universities for over twenty-five (25). He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Builders (NIOB) and Malaysian Society of Engineering and Technology (mSET). He is also a member of several local and international research groups. He has to his credit about twenty research articles published in reputable engineering journals including Elsevier, American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE), Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering (CJCE), Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering (MJCE) and Indian Concrete Journal (ICJ). In addition, he is the author of a book titled “Impact of Natural Rubber Latex on the Engineering Properties of Concrete published by Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany., and a co-author of the book entitled Elastomers published by InTech, Croatia. He is two times External Expert Examiner to PhD Thesis in the University of Engineering, Science and Technology, Pakistan. Prof. Gabreal Hembave Asenge
Dean of Computing and Applied Sciences
Professor of Botany (Cytogenetics. Came into the world some sixty year ago, Gabreal received his primary school education between January, 1959 and December, 1965, in Sev-av in Benue State. Between January 1966, and August 1968, he was a student of Bristow Secondary School, Gboko, when his education was abruptly halted as the result of the Nigerian civil war. After the war, he combined work and part-time studies at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to acquire higher academic and technological qualifications as follows: FTC (Lond.) (1976), M.Sc. (Cytogenetics and Plant Breeding) (Jos) (1991), Ph.D. (Cytogenetics) (Jos) (2002), Fellow, Institute of corporate Administration (Abuja) (2011).
Through the course of his career, Prof. Gabreal has been Member, Examinations board, Nigerian Institute of Science Technology, Ibadan in January, 1988. Member, accreditation panel Of Nigerian institution of science Technology to the federal university of technology, Yola, June, 1988. Member appointment and promotions Sub-committee on harmonization of General criteria for promotion of senior Staff of the University of Jos in March 1990. Member, Vice-Chancellor's three-man Panel that investigated problems in the Department of Anesthetics of the University of Jos, May, 1990.
Prof. Asenge spent a good part of his career at the Bingham University, Consultant to the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Bingham University, New Karu in August, 2005. Assoc. Professor of Botany, Bingham University, New Karu, March, 2009. In March, 2009 he became Head, Biological sciences department Bingham University, Karu, July of the same year he was made Dean, Student affairs, Bingham University, Karu. January, 2012 - Member of Governing Council, Bingham University, Karu. He left Bingham February, 2015 to become Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Mkar, Benue State. He joined our team, May, 2016 as Head of Department, Biological Sciences, Baze University, Abuja and was made Dean, Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences, September, 2018.
Gabreal Asenge has published several journal articles; two books, some monographs and some technical reports in plant science technology. His teaching experience at the university level spans the period 1980 to date. He has supervised several undergraduate and post-graduate theses.
Gabreal's research interest is in the area of plant tissue culture, focusing on the development of drought-tolerant plant types which are of commercial value to mankind. He is married with four children.
Dr. Rukayyat Abdulkareem Gurin
Head of General Studies
Dr. Rukayyatu Abdulkareem Gurin ,mni attended the University of Maiduguri; School of Basic Studies (1976-1978), obtained a B.Ed, Education and Islamic Studies (1978-1981), M.Ed, Curriculum Studies (1986) and Ph.D, Curriculum Instructions (1995).Dr. Gurin started her career in 1982 as a Tutor at the Staff School of the University of Maiduguri. In 1986, she joined the Department of Education and served as Graduate Assistant in the same University. She rose to the rank of lecturer I, before joining the NUC in 1997, as Assistant Chief Research Officer in the Department of Research and Innovation.Dr. Gurin has served in various Departments including Departments of Research and Postgraduate Development, Academic Planning and Research, Quality Assurance, Inspection and Monitoring, and Student Support Services at NUC. She also served as Directing staff at NIPSS, Kuru.She attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, 2011 and is a Member of the National Institute (mni). Dr. Gurin also attended various courses both locally and abroad, including the Peace and Conflict Resolution (Pretoria South Africa), Gender Mainstreaming (Ghana), Project Management (Ibadan), Inter Personal Communication in Dubai and entrepreneurship training in Atlanta, USA.
